Title: Structural Field Inspector
Shift: Day shift with hours varying based on site-specific client facility schedules
Salary: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour dependent on experience, plus profit sharing options
Structural Field Inspector Role:
Our client is seeking a Structural Field Inspector to work onsite within manufacturing facilities, conducting inspections on various types of structures and equipmentThe primary goal of this role is to identify deficiencies or safety non-conformances that fail to comply with standard safety guidelines
Structural Field Inspector Responsibilities:
- Travel to client job sites for 80% to 90% of the time in this role
- Complete site-specific safety training to thoroughly understand unique facility hazards
- Complete daily work permits and all required compliance documentation
- Inspect plant structures and equipment for physical deficiencies while documenting findings and taking digital photos
- Collaborate with the internal engineering team to accurately assess the severity of findings
- Read and interpret technical drawings to identify and label the locations of observed deficiencies
- Review specific inspection guidelines and specifications relevant to the assets being evaluated
- Create accurate field sketches to illustrate the locations of structures or equipment within the facility
- Document all findings on a tablet device and manage digital photo logs
Structural Field Inspector Reporting Relationships:
The candidate will report directly to the General Manager for regional facility assignments. This role does not have any direct reports.
About You:
- Hold an Associate degree in engineering or a technical discipline, or possess equivalent hands-on experience in skilled industrial trades
- Possess 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar structural or equipment inspection role
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and a high level of professionalism aligned with company values
- Maintain a valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a company vehicle
- Understand AutoCAD drawings and possess the capacity to interpret technical schematics
- Hold prior non-destructive testing (NDT) certifications or possess the logged hours required to pursue certification
- Possess a manlift certification or have a proven background operating manlift equipment safely
- Operate tablets and iPads efficiently, including downloading and managing digital media
- Exhibit complete comfort working at significant heights, within manlift baskets, and in confined spaces

- Stand for extended periods of time
- Work comfortably within a manlift basket and enter confined spaces when necessary
- Use hand tools such as wire brushes or chipping hammers to clean designated inspection areas
Working Conditions:
- Involves 80% to 90% travel, including extended overnight stays
- Environments consist primarily of heavy industrial manufacturing environments, such as active steel production plants
- Company direct-bills all hotel accommodations and rental cars, and provides a flat $65 daily per diem for meals and incidentals without requiring receipts
