Job Description

BB&E is an employee-owned, full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both federal and private sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to our clients.

BB&E is currently looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Structural Engineer (Mid and Senior Level) to support the 35 CES Engineering Flight at Misawa AB, Japan. This role provides technical expertise in structural design review, project development, and construction support across pre- and post-award phases.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform technical review of A/E designs, construction documents, and proposals
  • Ensure compliance with UFC, IBC, and Air Force design standards
  • Support development of SOWs, RFP packages, and cost estimates
  • Participate in design reviews and comment resolution meetings
  • Conduct structural analysis and risk assessments
  • Provide technical recommendations to Government leadership
  • Support root cause analysis for design and construction issues

Requirements

Key Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Government Security Clearance (NACI) is required
  • Knowledge: ·
    • Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and design codes
    • Experience with DoD design standards (UFC/UFGS)
    • Ability to evaluate technical documents and provide defensible comments
    • Proficiency in structural analysis tools and AutoCAD/BIM.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey concepts to diverse audiences
  • Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint and advanced Adobe skills preferred
  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated to improve organizational efficiency, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously

Experience & Education

Experience: A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years in structural engineering.

Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in structural engineering

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform desk work for extended periods, including sitting and using a computer.
  • Ability to walk and navigate varied facilities, including construction areas and uneven terrain.
  • Fieldwork might require bending, stooping, and kneeling to access and inspect facilities in confined or difficult-to-reach areas.

  • Requires sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform related tasks.
