Job Description

Full-time | Diverse QLD projects | 9-day fortnight + flexibility

Want to see your designs built (and get the credit for them)? If you’re ready for bigger ownership, smarter projects, and a team that backs your ideas - this is your move.

Quick highlights:
9-day fortnight | flexible hours | varied QLD work | mentoring toward RPEQ | a team that’s serious about quality (and not too serious about itself)

Why you’ll love working here

You’ll get variety, autonomy and support in one place. We’re big enough for interesting projects and small enough that your work is noticed, valued, and actually influences outcomes.

The good stuff (benefits)

  • Competitive compensation: a package that reflects your experience and the value you bring.
  • Flexibility that works: 9-day fortnight, flexible hours, plus the option to purchase extra leave.
  • Recognition (the genuine kind): employee referral rewards and recognition programs that don’t feel like an afterthought.
  • Inclusive, friendly culture: supportive, collaborative people and regular social events to match.
  • Career growth with momentum: real ownership, real development, and room to progress.
  • Professional development: CPD support plus mentoring to help you move confidently toward RPEQ.
  • Wellbeing support: confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) when you need it.
  • Stability & reputation: a respected, Australian-owned consultancy with a strong and diverse client base.

Why engineers choose STP

  • A genuinely varied mix of residential, commercial and infrastructure work
  • More ownership than you typically get in a big consultancy (without losing support)
  • Direct access to experienced mentors (the “decades of QLD know-how” kind)
  • A clear, supported pathway toward RPEQ registration
  • A team that collaborates well, shares knowledge, and backs each other

What you’ll be doing

Step into a role where the work stays interesting and your weeks don’t look the same. You’ll get a solid mix of technical design, documentation, client engagement, and on-site experience.

You’ll work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams, with hands-on project exposure, practical mentoring, and the guidance to keep moving toward your RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland).

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Design & Documentation: Deliver structural designs and documentation across concrete, steel, timber, and masonry aligned with NCC and Australian Standards.
  • Wind Loading Expertise: Apply your knowledge of wind codes - experience here is a strong advantage.
  • Technical Reporting: Produce clear, professional reports and specifications to support project delivery.
  • Coordination & Review: Review drawings and documents, providing markups that enhance team collaboration.
  • Site Engagement: Attend site inspections, respond to RFIs, and support construction-phase queries.
  • Quality & Systems: Contribute to QA, meet project timelines, and improve internal templates and workflows.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with engineers, architects, and designers to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.

What you’ll bring

You’re a driven, detail-minded Structural Engineer who enjoys solving real problems with a team around you. You’re ready for the next step, more ownership, great support, and projects you’ll be proud to put your name on.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (essential).
  • 3 – 10 years of hands-on experience in structural design, with a strong foundation in residential and suspended concrete slab projects (essential).
  • Solid understanding of Australian Standards and the NCC, with confidence designing in concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.
  • Proficiency in Spacegass, Inducta, Adobe Bluebeam (highly regarded) , Revit knowledge would assist.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Open to candidates based in Brisbane or across Queensland who are interested in working on projects across regional and metropolitan communities. Full Australian working rights.
  • A clear ambition to achieve RPEQ registration—we’ll support you every step of the way.
