Got a knack for turning great concepts into structural realities? We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Structural Designer to join our Opal Specialty Packaging team at the Papatoetoe site. This is a brilliant chance to stretch your design capabilities, play with cutting-edge digital print tech, and be part of a genuinely supportive team environment.

At Opal Specialty Packaging, we create corrugated packaging and standout Point of Sale (POS) displays. You will help bring custom, eye-catching corrugated designs to life.

Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

• Partner closely with our Account Managers to turn creative design briefs into structural reality.
• Be the go-to expert, providing structural and design advice to our sales, estimating, and operations teams
• Produce finished art and lay sheets from customer artwork, getting everything prepped for smooth production
• Work with production and estimating to ensure our designs are as efficient to manufacture as they are great to look at
• Bring concepts to life with 3D renders for customer approval
• Draft clear, graphic assembly instructions for our POS displays
• Put your designs through their paces with structural integrity and conditional testing when required

To hit the ground running, you’ll ideally bring:

• A solid background in structural, engineering, or architectural design work
• Hands-on experience with design software like ArtiosCAD
• A strong technical aptitude—especially when it comes to spatial reasoning and abstract thinking
• The confidence to work directly with customers, get to the heart of what they need, and design creative solutions for them
• A basic understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to help manage graphics
