
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is looking for a talented Structural Design Authority Engineer (DAE) to join our team! This individual will be responsible for the application of site, local, state, and national codes and standards to nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.This position will require the application of conventional engineering and scientific solutions to resolve technical task objectives in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.
Perform routine inspection of safety related structural systems, structural analysis, and calculations for changing facility conditions like movement of equipment and major facility modifications, and support of fall protection analyses.
Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and requirements. Common requirements involve interpretation and use of the International Building Code (IBC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE-7), American Concrete Institute codes, and the American Institute of Steel Construction specifications.
Use and understanding of Savannah River Site and Department of Energy codes and standards for solutions to complex problems. Some examples are standards for Structural Design Criteria, Qualifications of Systems, Equipment and Components for Natural Phenomena Hazards, Coring, Chipping, and Drilling in Concrete, and Installation and Inspection of Penetration Seals.
Employee will be required to climb stairs and ladders, support work in radiological areas, and be present on field walkdowns indoors and outdoors
Ability to develop and work to a schedule, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer License in Civil or Structural discipline
Experience working in Department of Energy or other nuclear facilities.
Structural Design or Analysis experience in government or private sector.
Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD design software.
Active DOE “L” or “Q” clearance
