The Team

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Structural Analysis, you will lead the Major Reactor Island Equipment Structural Analysis team. Working alongside specialists across component design, safety case, materials, processengineeringand external partners, you will provide technical leadership, developcapabilityand ensure delivery of high-quality engineering solutions across the reactor islandprogramme

The Role

This is a strategic technical leadership role combiningpeopleleadership,programmedeliveryand specialist engineeringexpertise You will shape and deliver the structural analysis strategy for major reactor island equipment, ensuring analysis activities support design maturity, regulatory compliance andprogrammeobjectiveswhile influencing key engineering decisions across the business.

WhatWe’llNeed You to Do

  • Lead and develop the Major Reactor Island Equipment Structural Analysis team, promoting technical excellence,collaborationand continuous improvement.

  • Drive the delivery of structural analysis activities across the integrated reactor developmentprogramme, ensuring alignment withprogrammemilestones and quality requirements.

  • Provide technical leadership and governance across the discipline, ensuringappropriate applicationof ASME,R6and related assessment methodologies.

  • Shape delivery plans, resourcestrategiesand budget requirements, balancing immediateprogrammeneeds with long-term capability development.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to resolve complex engineering challenges and deliver integrated design solutions.

  • Oversee technical reviews, assuranceactivitiesand governance forums, ensuring robust engineering justification and traceability.

  • Represent Rolls-Royce SMR in internal and external technical forums, building relationships and supporting future capability growth.

WhatYou’llBring

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional achievement.

  • Significant structural analysis experience within nuclear or another highly regulated industry.

  • Strong knowledge of ASME BPVC, R6, BS 7910 or equivalent structural assessment standards.

  • Extensive experience with finite element tools such as Abaqus, ANSYS or similar.

  • A proventrack recordof leading engineering teams and delivering complex technicalprogrammes

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

  • A collaborative,adaptableand forward-thinking leadership approach.

Location

This role offers flexible and hybrid working with regular attendance expected at Derby,Manchesteror Warrington. Travel between sites andto partnerlocations may berequired

Salary and Package:

The salary band for this role will be between £60,000 – £78,750dependent on the skills,valuesand knowledge you bring. There may be flexibility in exceptional cases, reflecting the seniority and leadership responsibility of the role.

Benefits include:

  • Bonus – Performancerelated target opportunity up to 12.5%

  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum for a bespoke package

  • Pension – 12% employer and 6% employee contributions

  • Holidays – 28 days (+ public holidays) with the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days

  • Life Assurance – 6× pensionable pay

  • Home Office Support – £250 oneoff payment for new starters
