As a Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach, you supervise the delivery of quality strength and conditioning services for identified sports both at the Aspire facilities and off-site as deemed necessary. You collaborate with multi-disciplinary service teams to construct, supervise and evaluate strength and conditioning programs to optimize athletic development, injury reduction and rehabilitation.

You are going to work within various Sports disciplines such as athletics. You should attend to the development of the athletes by integrating with the coaching and support team, training the athlete in both group and individual sessions and by showing excellent adherence and commitment to the long-term development of the athlete.

What will you do- Main responsibilities:

Coaching support and delivery:

  • Lead in the planning, delivery and monitoring of the strength and conditioning service to adolescent and graduate student-athletes within the Academy.
  • Work with Track and Field athletes in delivering highly relevant programs that make a measured performance difference.
  • Ensure athletes are instructed in the correct techniques and methods as per the requirements of each session/program. Progress them towards technical excellence in the key exercises for the program.
  • Coordinate with coaches about training principles and program design to ensure optimal training prescription.
  • Work within the appropriate service teams to establish and continually adapt specific athletic development plans for each athlete.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, training camps and competitions as deemed necessary by the appropriate service teams.
  • Provide input into the athlete annual training regarding S&C training, monitoring, and testing.

Testing & Monitoring

  • Prescribe, implement and evaluate testing and monitoring strategies that will be used to track key performance outputs from the athlete.
  • Utilize technology and necessary sports analytics to deliver high quality service support to the team.
  • Ensure training records and testing data are recorded effectively.

Analysis and feedback

  • Prepare basic reports and training guidelines for coaches and athletes including the interpretation of results
  • Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches and ensures this is stored on the relevant repositories.

Professional Development

  • Keep up to date with the scientific literature with special regard to adolescent athletic development S&C and attend relevant conferences, congresses, seminars and workshops where possible.
  • Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise/sport science, human movement or equivalent
  • Internationally recognized S&C accreditation (e.g. NSCA, ASCA, UKSCA).
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the field of Sports Science (Strength and Conditioning), ideally in a similar position or level of responsibility.
  • A proven track record of collaborating with coaches to develop strength and power capabilities in “centimeter/gram/seconds” sports — disciplines with defined competition windows where performance relies extensively on expressing qualities such as speed, strength, and power (e.g., track sprinting, jumps, throwing, track cycling, bobsleigh, swimming).
  • Experience of working with both academy and senior level athletes in a sporting capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team as well as the ability to work independently and possess a high level of personal initiative and autonomy
  • Ability to critically analyze scientific research and anecdotal evidence to conceptualize, assist and guide innovative practical applications in S&C.
  • Understanding of the principles of sports science and coaching.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Fluent in English (Oral & written).
  • Willingness to live and work within Qatar

Desirable

  • Arabic speaking
  • Additional sport science skill sets that are complimentary to service support.
  • Higher level academic qualifications (MSc, PhD)
