Street Lighting Fitter/Trainee

Department: Distribution

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Guernsey

Reporting To: Team Lead

To support the Street Lighting Co-Ordinator to install and maintain street lighting around the island.

The vast majority of the practical work is undertaken outside, frequently in the wet and cold conditions. Administration is carried out in an office environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out street light maintenance.2. Operate MEWP for street lighting and other uses.3. Liaise with Parish Constable and others on street lighting issues.4. Remove and replace fuses in control cubicles to energise or de-energise street lighting.5. Install and maintain temporary traffic lights.6. Such other duties as may be allocated and interchange of duties as required.7. Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.8. Demonstrate the core values and behaviours of Guernsey Electricity Limited.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Electrical installation and fault finding skills are essential.
• Must hold a Category C driving licence
• Must be self-motivated and proactive in managing the street lighting system.
• Must have excellent customer service skills
• Vast majority of skills will be acquired through on the job and off the job training courses.
• Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors.
