At Vueling, we connect people, places and opportunities ✈️

As part of the IAG Group, we are one of Europe’s leading airlines, serving around 250 routes across 30 countries and welcoming millions of customers every year. With more than 5,000 employees, Vueling is the only European airline recognized as a Top Employer for three consecutive years. Driven by innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to sustainability, we are shaping the future of aviation while creating an environment where our people can grow, contribute, and make an impact.

Mission

Support the Head of Strategy & Alliances in developing Vueling’s corporate strategy and translating it into clear strategic priorities and actionable plans; coordinate the annual and multi-year Business Plan; and deliver high impact strategic analysis and cross-functional projects to strengthen Vueling’s long-term competitive position.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Support the development and periodic review of Vueling’s corporate strategy, translating the company’s ambition into strategic priorities, choices and an actionable roadmap.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of the annual and multi-year Business Plan, coordinating cross-functional inputs and ensuring consistency between strategic, commercial, operational and financial assumptions.
  • Structure and lead high-impact strategic projects addressing Vueling’s most relevant growth, profitability, competitive and transformation priorities.
  • Develop strategic analyses, business cases, financial models and scenarios to evaluate key decisions and growth opportunities, including organic and inorganic options.
  • Lead market, industry and competitive intelligence, monitoring external developments and competitor actions and assessing their implications for Vueling.
  • Track progress against strategic priorities and Business Plan commitments, identifying performance gaps, dependencies and required management actions.
  • Coordinate effectively with Network, Finance, Commercial, Customer, Operations, Transformation and IAG Strategy teams, and prepare clear executive-level materials and recommendations.

Academic background

  • Bachelor’s degree is essential in a field such as Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or similar disciplines, providing foundational knowledge in data analysis, finance, and corporate strategy.
  • Profound knowledge in strategic planning processes, competitive intelligence, and business modelling is essential, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and financial insight.
  • Expertise in cross-functional project coordination and stakeholder alignment is critical, as this role requires liaising between multiple departments
  • Strong familiarity with industry-specific KPIs, metrics, and strategic frameworks used within the airline industry is highly desirable.
  • Advanced technical skills in data analysis, especially in financial modelling, scenario planning, and market trend analysis, are necessary to support robust business recommendations.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in strategic roles is required, ideally within the airline industry or a related competitive sector (e.g., transportation, logistics, consulting) where knowledge of complex, multi-dimensional business planning is essential.
  • Significant practical experience in strategic roles may be considered in place of formal advanced education if supported by professional certifications in strategy or finance.
  • Experience in consulting (especially within a strategy-focused firm) or financial planning roles is also highly valued, particularly if it includes exposure to cross functional projects and high-level corporate decision-making.
  • Experience in managing strategic projects with measurable business impact, ideally involving multi-stakeholder alignment and long-term forecasting.
  • Experience in developing and delivering multi-year business plans to high-level stakeholders, particularly within a corporate or group structure, is essential.
  • Experience in both strategic analysis and hands-on project execution—demonstrating the ability to dive into data and develop insights independently—is considered invaluable.

Skills

  • English proficiency at C1/C2 level is mandatory to facilitate complex interactions across all company levels and with external stakeholders, including IAG and regulatory bodies.
  • Spanish proficiency at C1 level is highly desirable to ensure effective communication within Vueling and with local stakeholders but is not required if the candidate demonstrates exceptional capability in other areas.
