The Role
We're looking for a Strategy Manager to own the financial backbone of ShopBack's highest-impact group initiatives. This is a finance-first seat at the table — you'll build the models, own the numbers, and translate financial rigor into the strategic bets that fuel our growth. You'll partner directly with C-level executives, acting as a trusted financial voice behind major resource allocation decisions. This is a fast-tracked leadership role: deep grounding in finance, broadened by rotations across the business, positioning you for future leadership.
What You'll Own
- Own Financial Strategic Initiatives: Build and own end-to-end financial models — forecasts, scenario plans, ROI cases — underpinning ShopBack's highest-priority cross-functional initiatives.
- Own the C-Suite Financial Narrative: Serve as a trusted finance business partner to senior leadership, translating complex data into clear, decision-ready recommendations that shape company direction.
- Cross-Functional Rotation: You may be rotated through various business functions such as Sales, Marketing, and Operations to gain a deep understanding of the company’s operations and strategic challenges.
- Own P&L Visibility Through Rotation: Rotate through Commercial and Operations bringing a finance lens to each — owning budget tracking, cost centre reporting, and variance analysis as you go.
- Own Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation: Build and execute detailed project plans — budgets, timelines, resourcing — owning performance tracking against plan through to delivery.
- Own Process & Forecasting Rigor: Identify inefficiencies in budgeting and planning cycles; design and implement improvements that sharpen forecasting accuracy and financial control.
- Own Cross-Functional Financial Alignment: Consolidate financial inputs across departments into a single, trusted source of truth; own the reporting cadence back to leadership.
- Leadership Development: Demonstrate readiness for future P&L ownership, shaping company direction as part of a defined leadership track.
Essentials to Succeed
- AI Builder: Demonstrated use of AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to build agentic workflows, sharpen analysis, and move 3x faster at scale in a work or academic setting.
- Experience: 5+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, financial planning, or a related discipline. Entrepreneurial or high-growth environment experience highly welcomed.
- Financial Modeling & Analytics: Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis skills, with a track record of turning data into decision-ready recommendations.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong grasp of unit economics, P&L drivers, and cost structures, with the judgment to translate them into strategic recommendations.
- Business Partnering: Proven ability to partner with and influence senior stakeholders on budget and resource-allocation decisions.
- Communication: Ability to distill complex financial narratives into clear, executive-ready messaging.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to work with and influence stakeholders across teams and markets.
- Project Management: Track record of managing multiple initiatives, meeting deadlines, and delivering results with minimal supervision.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, thrive in ambiguity, and lead with a bias to action.
Why Join Us:
- Leadership Fast-Track: This role is designed to fast-track you into a leadership position within the company, with the opportunity to influence strategic decisions and shape the company’s future.
- Global Exposure: Gain hands-on experience in high-impact global initiatives across geographies.
- Executive Mentorship: Work directly with and receive mentorship from C-level executives and senior leadership.
- Dynamic Work Environment: Be part of a high-growth company where innovation, agility, and entrepreneurial thinking are at the core of everything we do.
ShopBacker Traits
- Agency - We take ownership and act, rather than waiting for permission. When something's blocking progress, we find a way through it and follow through until it's done.
- Judgement - We aim for high-impact decisions, not just easy wins, and we put the bigger picture ahead of individual interests. That means moving quickly and confidently, while staying thoughtful about when a call really matters.
- Learning Velocity - We pick up new skills fast and let go of old habits just as quickly when something better comes along. We benchmark ourselves against the best and keep raising our own bar.
- Tenacity - We stay in it when things get hard, keeping a level head under pressure. We debate openly before deciding, then commit fully — and support each other along the way.
What's in it for ShopBackers
- Career growth opportunities to take on greater challenges that help you realise your ambitions.
- Be part of a winning team on a journey to global scale.
- Competitive compensation based on performance.
- Candid, open, and collaborative culture where feedback is valued.
