
We are offering an exciting opportunity to strengthen and accelerate the strategic agenda of CAMCAR through the role of Strategy & Business Operations Head – CAMCAR This highly visible position will serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the Cluster President and CAMCAR Senior Management Team, supporting the definition, prioritization and execution of the Cluster’s most critical business priorities while ensuring alignment with AstraZeneca’s Ambition 2030 and LATAM strategic objectives.
Acting as the bridge between strategy and execution, the role will help the organization balance short-term business performance with long-term growth ambitions. It will provide strategic insights, challenge thinking constructively, support enterprise decision-making, and help focus resources and organizational energy on the priorities that create the greatest value for patients and the business. The role will also lead key business planning processes, monitor organizational performance, and drive disciplined execution through effective governance and performance management.
Working closely with the LATAM Strategy & Business Operations organization and cross-functional leaders across CAMCAR, the incumbent will drive transformation, innovation and organizational effectiveness initiatives that strengthen capabilities, simplify ways of working, and improve business outcomes. The role is instrumental in building, monitoring and communicating the Cluster Scorecard, identifying opportunities to enhance performance, and ensuring accountability for the execution of strategic priorities.
As a member of the CAMCAR Senior Management Team, the incumbent will actively contribute to shaping the future direction of the Cluster, bringing an enterprise perspective, strong business acumen, digital and AI-driven thinking, and the ability to navigate complexity with agility. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Strategic Agenda & Prioritization
Partner with the Cluster President and CAMCAR Senior Leadership Team to define, prioritize and execute the Cluster’s strategic agenda, ensuring alignment with LATAM objectives.
Enable strategic decision-making through business insights, structured analysis and scenario planning.
Drive focus and resource allocation toward initiatives with the highest business impact while supporting long-term growth and transformation priorities.
Maintain a high degree of understanding and awareness of emerging strategic and portfolio management trends and developments.
Business Performance & Insights
Drive business performance management through robust analytics, strategic insights and effective monitoring of key business metrics.
Lead the CAMCAR Scorecard and provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making and execution excellence.
Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional leaders to align strategic priorities with financial outcomes, planning and resource allocation.
Governance & Execution Excellence
Drive governance and performance management processes to ensure accountability and execution of strategic priorities.
Coordinate leadership forums, business reviews and strategic discussions.
Monitor critical initiatives, proactively addressing risks and execution barriers to deliver business outcomes.
Transformation, Innovation & Organizational Effectiveness
Support organizational transformation initiatives required to accelerate future growth and business evolution.
Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize and enhance business processes and operating models.
Lead deep-dives into critical business challenges and recommend scalable solutions.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and organizational agility.
Support capability-building initiatives that strengthen the Cluster’s readiness for future opportunities.
Digital, Data & AI Enablement
Champion the adoption of digital tools, data-driven decision-making and innovative ways of working across CAMCAR.
Identify opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence, advanced analytics and automation to improve business performance, productivity and insight generation.
Strong digital and collaborative skills: Teams, Copilot, AZChatGPT, PowerPoint, Power BI.
Partner with business leaders to translate technological and AI opportunities into practical business value.
Promote a digital-first mindset and support the development of AI literacy across the organization.
Leadership Partnership & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the Cluster President.
Provide strategic challenge and independent perspective to senior leaders.
Facilitate communication and alignment between the CAMCAR Leadership Team, LATAM organization and key regional stakeholders.
Support executive communications, leadership presentations and strategic storytelling for senior audiences.
Role Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Strategy, Life Sciences or related disciplines.
MBA or Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience
Demonstrated success in Strategy, Business Operations, Finance, Strategic Consulting, Transformation or other strategic leadership roles.
Experience supporting senior leaders and influencing decision-making at executive levels.
Proven track record leading strategic initiatives, organizational transformation and cross-functional projects.
Experience operating successfully in matrix and multi-country environments. International experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare, pharmaceutical or life sciences industries is preferred.
Experience driving digital transformation, innovation initiatives or data-enabled business improvements is highly desirable.
