We are currently looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our busy and growing manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, and mitigate risk across key spend categories. This role partners cross-functionally to align procurement initiatives with business objectives and strategies, ensuring a reliable and world-class supply base. This role is not a leadership role and does not have any direct reports

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement spend category strategies to optimize cost, quality, delivery, service, and innovation
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives including RFPs, RFQs, and supplier negotiations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and deliver measurable value (e.g., TCO, cost avoidance)
  • Evaluate and implement initiatives to optimize working capital (e.g., inventory investments and accounts payable), including supplier managed inventory programs, just-in-time delivery systems, and negotiating favourable supplier payment terms
  • Build and manage strong supplier relationships, including performance reviews and scorecards
  • Conduct market analysis to understand and identify supply trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, operations, finance, etc.) to align sourcing strategies
  • Manage supplier contract negotiations and ensure compliance with legal and company standards
  • Mitigate supply chain risks, including evaluating opportunities to use dual sourcing, inventory strategies, and supplier diversification
  • Support ESG, sustainability, and supplier diversity initiatives where applicable
  • Continuously improve procurement processes, tools, and systems
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Able to read the Engineering Drawings (e.g. GD&T) and validation plan (e.g. FAI Plan)
  • Basic understanding of technical specification and manufacturing processes
  • Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet frequent deadlines
  • A self-starter with the ability to set and handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent communications skills both written, oral and presentation ability, including a strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with a focus on finding positive outcomes
  • Adaptable and flexible in a changing environment
  • Must be computer literate – Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possess excellent organizational, analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical mindset with ability to leverage data for decision-making
  • Influencing and stakeholder management
  • Financial acumen (cost modeling, TCO analysis)
  • Supplier relationship management including strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Risk assessment and mitigation
  • Knowledge of sourcing tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa)

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field (MBA is an asset)
  • 5–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
  • Min. 5 years’ experience working with MRP/ERP system (Dynamics 365 Business Central (considered an asset)
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience considered an asset
  • This role requires up to 10% travel to support global supplier engagement and strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Experience managing complex categories (e.g., direct materials, indirect spend, CAPEX)
