Our client is a well-established industrial distribution business operating across Asia, with a broad portfolio of MRO supply chain solutions serving industrial end-markets. With a strong commercial foundation and an ambitious growth agenda, they are seeking a senior sourcing leader to drive margin performance and shape long-term supplier strategy.
The Challenges
Sourcing Strategy & Cost Optimisation
- Develop a multi-year sourcing strategy that encompasses estimated costs, projected savings, demand forecasts, and contract renewal timelines.
- Identify and pursue strategic sourcing opportunities across the portfolio, with a focus on cost reduction and margin improvement.
- Champion the adoption of sound sourcing methodology and process rigour — educating internal stakeholders and securing buy-in from subject matter experts.
- Lead sourcing initiatives to ensure goods and services are procured at the most competitive cost, without compromising quality, performance, service, or availability.
- Ensure all sourcing activities meet or exceed established performance targets for savings, margin contribution, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement sourcing policies and procedures, identifying capability gaps and putting in place plans to close them.
Contract & Supplier Management
- Manage sourcing deals and supplier contracts, ensuring that commercial terms translate into measurable cost savings at the P&L level.
- Drive key supplier relationships, actively monitoring performance against contract terms, service level agreements, and KPIs.
- Maintain oversight of product category structures and item classification within the ERP system, ensuring data accuracy through regular review cycles.
- Hold your team accountable for delivering world-class customer service standards across all sourcing interactions.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Build a high-performing sourcing team — developing individual capabilities and fostering a culture that rewards collaboration, both within the function and across the broader organisation.
- Engage and influence stakeholders across sales, supply chain, and other functions, serving as a credible commercial partner at all organisational levels.
- Partner with the regional strategic sourcing team to ensure local activities are aligned with broader strategy and tactical priorities.
- Create the conditions for your team to succeed — setting clear expectations, supporting their development, and holding them accountable for results.
What It Takes
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or a related discipline
- Experience in strategic sourcing of MRO products
- Strong business acumen and experience managing complex supply chains and cost models
- Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Ability to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence across multiple teams, creating effective internal business partnerships
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines
- Ability to independently lead teams and execute on functional responsibilities
