Inside the Role

This position plays a key role within the Global Indirect Procurement (GIP) organization at Daimler Truck North America (DTNA). GIP is responsible for sourcing non-production materials and services and partnering with the business to secure the best overall value in quality, price, innovation, and timing. As part of a global network, we work with suppliers around the world and collaborate across Daimler Truck to drive strategic value.

In this role, you will lead procurement activities for commodities related to plant-related goods and services. You should be passionate about procurement, negotiating high‑value deals, and building strong partnerships. You will support key Business Partners while ensuring cost‑effective purchasing outcomes that maintain high standards for performance, quality, and innovation.

Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 - $121,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and  experience

What You Drive at DTNA

Core Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage supplier relationship management processes, including setting and driving continuous improvement goals.
  • Negotiate contracts and coordinate supplier integration plans with internal clients.
  • Monitor market dynamics, identifying trends that impact availability, pricing, and supplier competitiveness.
  • Partner with internal clients to understand sourcing needs, develop market/buyer profiles, and define service-level expectations.
  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies to meet evolving business needs, with a focus on total cost of ownership optimization.
  • Lead contract negotiations ensuring strong terms for cost, quality, service levels, compliance, and legal requirements.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
  • Conduct market and technology research to anticipate risks and opportunities in the supplier landscape.
  • Leverage analytics to monitor performance, track KPIs, and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Improve overall supplier value through cost optimization, competitive bids, and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with global/local peers, Business Partners, and suppliers to ensure strategic alignment and information sharing.
  • Support risk‑management initiatives and ensure procurement process compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Business Partners and suppliers, ensuring consistent delivery, quality, and innovation.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team culture.

Leadership & Organizational Impact

  • Use analytical thinking to independently solve complex problems with minimal guidance.
  • Serve as an advisor to management and external stakeholders on procurement-related initiatives.
  • Lead team or departmental projects/workstreams within broader initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues with less experience.
  • Contribute to standards and best practices that shape how the broader organization operates.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 5–7 years of relevant experience, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • In‑depth knowledge and expertise in procurement or a closely related field, with cross-disciplinary awareness.
  • Strong experience in negotiations, contracting, stakeholder management, and sourcing strategy development.
  • Excellent prioritization, organization, and project‑management skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including executive‑level messaging and influence.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities, processes, or travel needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Experience in vendor management related to plant-related goods/services procurement.
  • Familiarity with DTNA processes, systems, and strategic planning.
  • Experience working in global, cross-cultural teams.
  • German language skills.
