Strategic Research Intern
Compensation: $39,130 per year

Science North runs Canada’s 2nd and 8th largest science centres and we have a bases of operation in Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. Science North is seeking to fill a one-year internship opportunity that will start as soon as possible. All applicants MUST meet the following internship program eligibility requirements:
• must be a new entrant into the workforce, be transitioning to a new career, or be unemployed or underemployed and entering a new field
• resides in Northern Ontario
• must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship
• must be 18 years of age or older
• must be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Once hired, must reside in Sudbury. Not suitable for remote work

Position Highlights:
Reporting to the Manager of Research & Evaluation, you will:
• Conduct literature reviews to support actions related to Science North’s strategic plan
• Research and gather existing frameworks, tools, best practices to support evidence-based decision making in relation to the strategic plan
• Assist in the development of research plans for key actions in the Strategic Plan
• Assist in the development of tools for mixed methods research on internal and external projects
• Collect and analyze data into written Summary Reports
• Summarize and present findings to members of strategic plan action teams

Qualifications:
• Educational background in social sciences, science or analytics is required
• Graduate level education in science communication, social sciences, museum studies is an asset
• Research experience is an asset
• Fluency in English required. French language skills will be considered an asset
• Knowledge of survey and statistics software is an asset

• Ability to interact with members of the general public, partners, and staff at all levels
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a wide variety of individuals
• Ability to multi-task and adjust quickly to changing priorities or organizational needs
• Exceptional communication skills, possessing a high level of verbal and written proficiency
