Job Description

Citycare Property is seeking a Strategic Māori Relationships Manager (Pou Arataki Taiao) to strengthen and grow our relationships with iwi, hapū, Māori-owned businesses and Indigenous communities across Aotearoa.

This is a senior, nationally focused role that sits within our Strategic Growth team and plays a critical part in honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi, embedding our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) commitments, and ensuring meaningful Māori outcomes are reflected in how we plan, procure and deliver work across whenua, the built environment and open spaces.

Based in Wellington or Christchurch, you’ll work alongside leaders across regions and business units, enabling strong engagement, improved cultural capability, and inclusive commercial outcomes that enhance community wellbeing.

What You’ll Be Doing | Ngā Kawenga Takohanga
• Build and maintain respectful, long-term relationships with iwi, hapū, Māori-owned businesses and community groups
• Support the implementation of Citycare Property’s DEI strategy through practical, delivery-focused engagement
• Provide strategic advice and cultural insight to commercial and operational teams
• Identify partnership opportunities that support supplier diversity, social procurement and Māori employment initiatives
• Strengthen internal understanding of iwi aspirations, tikanga and Mātauranga Māori
• Lead external engagement consistent with appropriate tikanga and engagement principles
• Contribute to reporting and insights that inform executive decision-making

What You’ll Bring to the Table | Ngā Mea ka Mauria e Ko:
• Significant experience in a relationship-focused, enabling or advisory role within a complex organisation
• Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in an organisational context
• Proven ability to engage effectively with Mana Whenua and work within tikanga Māori
• Experience contributing to DEI, social procurement, community development or supplier diversity initiatives
• Strong influencing skills, with the ability to guide outcomes through trust and relationships rather than authority
• A relevant tertiary qualification (Level 7+) or equivalent professional experience
• Legal right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand and ability to complete pre-employment checks
