We are looking for a Strategic Project Buyer to join our Project Procurement team and play a key role in enabling the successful execution of complex engineering projects. We are recruiting for two positions: one based in Spain and one based in either Sweden or Finland.


As part of our continuous improvement journey, this role will be responsible for managing project-specific procurement activities across both pre-order and post-order phases, ensuring project objectives are achieved through effective sourcing and supplier management. The position includes supplier identification within the Approved Supplier List (ASL), onboarding new suppliers in close collaboration with Commodity Managers, RFQ preparation, commercial negotiations, and post-order supplier performance management Acting as a bridge between technical requirements and strategic sourcing, the Strategic Project Buyer will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Commodity Management teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative project solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and execute project procurement strategies for project-specific materials, equipment, integration solutions, field services, and other services, ensuring alignment with engineering requirements, project objectives, timelines, and overall sourcing strategies.
  • Manage the end-to-end RFQ process for complex technical scopes, including integration solutions (e.g., e-houses), UPS, MV products, field services, and other project-specific requirements, from supplier identification through commercial evaluation.
  • Collaborate closely with Commodity Managers to ensure alignment with category strategies, supplier management approaches, cost optimization objectives, and risk mitigation plans across all project-related procurement activities.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard suppliers for project-specific needs, including integration partners, field service providers, and new vendors, assessing technical capabilities, commercial competitiveness, quality standards, compliance requirements, and project suitability.
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations with suppliers, in coordination with Commodity Managers, to secure optimal project-specific purchasing agreements, favorable commercial terms, and effective risk mitigation solutions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Project Management, and other stakeholders to ensure technical compliance, supplier readiness, and the timely delivery of materials and services throughout project execution.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance during project execution, proactively addressing issues related to delivery, quality, contractual commitments, and overall supplier performance to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Operational Buyers to ensure efficient transactional execution of purchase orders and seamless procurement operations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging internal tools, change management methodologies, and best practices to identify issues, implement corrective actions, optimize processes, reduce costs, standardize procurement practices, and measure results.
  • Ensure compliance with SCM policies, governance requirements, and documentation standards, maintaining accurate procurement records, supplier documentation, and project data within relevant systems and databases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement for complex engineering projects in hyperscale or industrial environments.

Skills:

  • Understanding of electrical/mechanical systems and integration requirements.
  • Experience in program management, deploying and coordinating the standard utilization of various tools and processes.
  • Language knowledge: English, Spanish Advantage: French.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization.
  • A successful candidate for this position should have a track record of leading and/or participating in successful, complex change management efforts, preferably cross-functional, cross-businesses and/or –regions.
