The OS Product team uses market insight to turn OS's world-leading mapping and location capabilities into products and services that delight our customers and deliver our business strategy
The team defines the vision and strategy for our product portfolios & services, identifying where we can create the most value for customers, and lead delivery from idea through to market. By combining market insight, product strategy and close collaboration with Data and Technology teams, we ensure our products are aligned to real user needs, perform effectively through their lifecycle, and evolve over time to maximise their impact.
The Opportunity
This is a key senior role within Ordnance Survey, translating market and customer insight into clear product direction for cross business teams, ensuring we remain relevant and impactful in a rapidly changing market.
As a Strategic Product Manager, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the product strategy for an entire product portfolio, made up of multiple products and services. This role is specifically for our Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) portfolio.
The Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) portfolio is OS’s suite of products and services that enable accurate, trusted, and resilient positioning capabilities across Great Britain. It spans geodetic infrastructure, GNSS positioning, and situational awareness services. This portfolio underpins national resilience and safety-critical use cases amongst others and is the primary portfolio which seeks to deliver our Ambition of becoming the National Positioning Authority.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Product Vision and Strategy for the PNT portfolio of products and services
Anticipate and respond to market trends, competitive dynamics and evolving business models, seeing the opportunity and bringing solution alchemy to shape and define the product response accordingly
Build, manage and nurture external Partner and customer relationships via strong customer empathy to define and ensure our long-term roadmaps and product vision is grounded in constant evidence based customer and market insight
Tell the product story – the Why – to inspire and nurture cross functional delivery teams to ensure optimal ways of working, collective alignment and strong overall business performance
Act as the Product subject matter expert and be the primary escalation point for delivery teams for products and services in your portfolio – making it happen.
Track and monitor the performance of large investment initiatives, ensuring product economics and strategic outcomes are achieved, working both internally and with strategic partners
Contribute to, and help influence the wider overall Product strategy and vision for OS
Provide people leadership and mentor one or more Product managers
Lead, develop and support the wider Product function team members and communities, contributing to the growth of the product management capability across OS
About You
You are a product expert and strategic thinker with commercial awareness and a deep understanding of how products evolve in response to market dynamics.
You will have a proven record of delivering successful outcomes in product teams and are comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, influencing direction whilst ensuring delivery of outcomes.
You will bring:
Experience in Strategic Product Management, market strategy or similar roles within a product, data or technology-led environment
Proven experience of managing multiple products through their entire lifecycle, and defining the response for both customer and business – driving portfolio-level thinking not just single product execution
Strong ability to interpret complex market trends and translate them into winning product visions and actionable responses
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders and external industry partners
Acute commercial awareness, with the ability to see the opportunity, risks and investment outcomes
A leadership style which drives collaboration, cross business alignment and a delivery ethos, whilst identifying and enabling growth opportunities for team members
Knowledge of implementing product management frameworks and best practices, including product performance management, user centred design and product strategy development
Desirable:
It is highly desirable that you have experience in the use of PNT capabilities in security and resilience settings.

Location
We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to spend a minimum of three days a week, inclusive of visits to customer meetings. With the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.
