Strategic Planner

Department: Planning and Grants

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Downtown Boston - Tremont Street

Compensation: $55,255 / year

The ABCD Planning and Grants team is hiring! If you are a detail-oriented individual passionate about community development and possess the skills to excel in this role, we invite you to join our team at ABCD as a Planner. The Planner is responsible for a broad variety of data collection and analysis, reporting, and program development functions for the agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, access, and analyze primary and secondary data sources related to ABCD’s anti-poverty mission.
  • Participate in in design and management of needs assessment and strategic planning processes.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support agency’s identification of strategic priorities.
  • Conduct research activities as needed for specific programs or issue areas.
  • Manage monitoring and evaluation activities and prepare reports for funding sources.
  • Manage, in collaboration with other ABCD departments, the agency’s client database systems.
  • Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess programs’ effectiveness.
  • Identify and develop promising program initiatives or planning innovations.
  • Facilitate staff working groups and multi-agency coalitions, as needed, to promote cooperative planning and program development.
  • Provide grant writing support through researching best practices and identifying primary and secondary data.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Social Services or related field
  • A minimum of one to three years of experience in human services planning or program development required.
  • Experience with program evaluation strongly preferred. Ability to work effectively with persons from a wide variety of backgrounds and income levels.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a busy, multi-tasking environment which requires self-direction and good judgment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and familiarity with statistical analysis software, such as SPSS.
Expected Salary: $55,255.20 annually ($30.36/hour) USD. Salary scales are set according to an explicit compensation policy and relevant market data. Due to funding restrictions and our strong focus on internal parity, this salary is thoughtfully aligned with the duties expected for this role, and offers are firm.
