Job Description

Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Strategic Initiatives Project Coordinator in the Office of the President to support several of the college’s strategic initiatives, including Kenyon Keys, pre-college and destination programs, as well as academic and institutional partnerships, among others. Many of these programs are interdisciplinary and will cross traditional departmental boundaries, but they operate under the ultimate direction of the special assistant to the president for strategic initiatives and partnerships. The project coordinator will be an important partner for these programs, providing high-level logistical and administrative support, as well as occasional general support for the president’s division. This is a twelve-month position that will support logistics, maintain records, handle financial transactions, and support meetings and events. Notably, this position may serve as the on-site liaison for one or more of the Kenyon destination city programs, so some episodic summer travel may be required. This is a new position connected to the college's strategic initiatives; therefore, it will evolve over time as programs develop and change, and the project coordinator will have the opportunity to participate in that evolution.

Essential Functions

Kenyon Keys

Kenyon Keys is an interdisciplinary thematic program that advances curricular and co-curricular projects across divisions and departments of the college and helps students curate a portfolio of experiences, from internships to research to service to study abroad. Kenyon is also developing a series of intensive destination city programs for current Kenyon students who will engage deeply with a subject, learn from Kenyon faculty, explore topics with industry experts, and make important connections with Kenyon alumni and parent networks. For these initiatives, the project coordinator may:

  • Collaborate with the director of experiential programming who manages pre-college summer programs and city programs for college students;
  • Serve as on-site support for pre-college programs; and
  • Serve as on-site liaison for destination.

Academic and Institutional Partnerships

Building on existing agreements with graduate and professional schools, Kenyon is developing new partnerships with key universities that facilitate pathways for current students to enter graduate programs and collaborate on educational opportunities. In addition, Kenyon is forging pathways for students to transfer from select Community Colleges into specific Kenyon programs. In supporting the special assistant for strategic initiatives and partnerships, the project coordinator may:

  • Aid in planning visits and partnership-related events.

  • Process payment orders, reimbursements, Kenyon Commerce orders, and reconcile p-card statements.
  • Maintain electronic files and records of all financial transactions connected to strategic initiatives and Kenyon Keys.
  • Assist with the development of curricular connections and future notations for Kenyon Keys.
  • Liaise with faculty and staff constituents across campus.
  • Liaise with relevant departments regarding advertisement of events related to programming, including assisting with designing posters and adding events to BigTree and Top Desk, and the Kenyon calendar.
  • Assist with updating Kenyon Keys and other strategic initiative web pages.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for the president’s division. e.g., ceremonies, building management, financial processing, etc., as requested.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Success Factors

  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate superb attention to detail.
