Job Description

Our client, a hedge fund in Midtown West, is seeking a highly strategic Executive Assistant to support the Chief Investment Officer in a critical, high-impact role. This is not a traditional Executive Assistant seat, but rather an opportunity for someone who can operate as a true extension and trusted right hand to the CIO, bringing exceptional judgment, intelligence, and thoughtful execution to a complex and fast-moving environment.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience supporting a CIO or similarly senior investment executive within a hedge fund environment and will be exceptionally smart, polished, service-oriented, and sophisticated in their approach. This person must genuinely enjoy making an executive's life easier while also possessing the intellectual curiosity and business acumen to understand the broader context surrounding his priorities. A critical component of the role will be the ability to connect dots across people, conversations, information, and competing priorities, ensuring the CIO has the right information at the right time.

Personality and interpersonal instincts are particularly important. The successful candidate will be easygoing and personable while still being highly effective at getting things done. They must understand how to manage up and strategically influence outcomes without being overly forceful or directive, allowing the CIO to maintain ownership over decisions while quietly ensuring priorities continue moving forward. This person should be a true teammate who is collaborative, low ego, highly intuitive, and skilled at reading the room.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic, high-level support to the Chief Investment Officer and operate as a trusted extension of him
  • Own and manage a highly complex, ever-changing calendar
  • Coordinate complex domestic and international business travel
  • Anticipate needs and bring structure and continuity to the CIO's day-to-day operations
  • Connect information across people, meetings, conversations, and priorities and proactively surface relevant information to the CIO
  • Understand the broader context surrounding priorities and anticipate how different pieces of information may impact decisions or next steps
  • Strategically manage up and help guide priorities while maintaining a highly service-oriented approach
  • Serve as a thoughtful gatekeeper and manage competing demands on the CIO's time
  • Track follow-ups, commitments, and action items and quietly drive execution across priorities
  • Build strong relationships across the organization and serve as a collaborative partner to internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare materials and provide support for meetings and presentations
  • Manage expenses and reporting
  • Support light personal logistics as needed
  • Assist with special projects and maintain strict confidentiality

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience supporting a CIO or senior investment executive within a hedge fund required
  • Exceptionally smart and intellectually sharp, with the ability to quickly understand context and connect information
  • Highly strategic with strong business judgment and sophisticated interpersonal instincts
  • Genuinely service-oriented and motivated by making the executive's life easier and more effective
  • Exceptional ability to manage up and influence outcomes in a thoughtful, nuanced manner
  • Easygoing and personable while still highly effective at driving execution
  • Able to anticipate needs and operate proactively with limited direction
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Strong ability to synthesize information across conversations, stakeholders, and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communication appropriately to the situation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort operating independently
  • Highly intuitive with an ability to read the room and navigate nuanced executive dynamics
  • Low ego, calm under pressure, collaborative, and a true team player
  • Hedge fund experience required
  • Stable tenure preferred
