A leading biotechnology company is seeking a Strategic Communications Lead (Fractional) to position the organization as a visible and credible innovator in synthetic biology and life sciences. This role will oversee corporate narrative, media relations, and investor communications, ensuring the company remains front-of-mind for partners, investors, and potential acquirers. The ideal candidate combines biotech and capital markets experience with a proven ability to design and deliver communications strategies that influence perception and enterprise value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with scientific, commercial, and corporate development priorities.
  • Manage media relations, press releases, and industry engagement to drive consistent visibility across biotech, cannabis, and capital markets channels.
  • Oversee investor communications, including messaging for fundraising, grants, and potential transactions.
  • Create thought leadership content for executives, positioning the organization as a leading voice in bio-innovation.
  • Support crisis communications and reputation management during diligence or transaction processes.
  • Collaborate with corporate development and finance teams to ensure narrative alignment with deal flow.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in corporate communications, PR, or investor relations, ideally within biotechnology, life sciences, or cannabis.
  • Demonstrated success generating tier-one media coverage and meaningful investor engagement.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets communications, including M&A and transaction-related PR.
  • Experience working directly with senior executives, boards, and external agencies.
  • Exceptional writing, messaging, and storytelling abilities, with skill in translating complex science into compelling public narratives.
  • Availability to work in a fractional capacity, with flexibility to scale involvement around major announcements and transactions.
