We’re looking for a capable, collaborative Strategic Advisor to join our small, high-performing team for a 12-month parental leave cover. This role supports the delivery of our key corporate planning and performance activities while helping maintain alignment with Council’s strategic direction.
You’ll work closely with the Team Lead – Corporate, Strategy & Compliance to ensure our major planning and reporting commitments stay on track, including the Annual Report, Long-term Plan, non-financial performance measures, and audit processes.
While this role sits within a strategic function, during the fixed term period the emphasis will be on supporting the practical delivery and coordination of our corporate planning activities to keep our work programme's moving.
What you’ll be involved in
• Leading the drafting and detailed quality checking of the Annual Report, working closely with the Team Lead and our design team to ensure timely delivery.
• Assisting with the development of our Long Term Plan by completing specific tasks as directed by the Team Lead.
• Leading the operational delivery of non financial performance measures, including data collation, working with responsible teams, preparing audit responses, and drafting of reports to Council on non-financial performance measures.
• Assisting with the timely audit response for our Annual Report and Long-term plan.
• Co ordinating the LTP consultation process, in partnership with our engagement and communications teams.
• Co-ordinating the hearings process for the LTP, including preparing the submissions pack and leading the thematic analysis of submissions to inform the deliberations report to Council.
What do you bring
• Knowledge of Local Government legislation, processes, and planning cycles.
• Experience working in a public sector environment and understands how government organisations operate.
• Comfortable working with audit processes, and performance reporting.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• A calm, steady approach and works well in a busy, fast-moving team environment.
• A collaborative team member who builds strong working relationships.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and with purpose.
• Understands the LTP and Annual Report environment.
• Someone who brings professionalism, integrity, and respect to their work, and contributes positively to a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
