Materials Management

of Position:

Provide coordination of activities and staff within the Materials Distribution department. This includes managing the distribution of supplies and equipment to various surgery, nursing, and ancillary departments. Responsible for maintaining par levels on all supply carts and warehouse locations. Provide a leadership role in inventory control. Provide appropriate resources for task assignments. Plan, organize, direct, control, and assist in project management through staffing and scheduling adjustments. Ensure department quality measures are effectively conducted and followed. Direct training of staff and follow up to ensure adherence. Evaluate performance of employees and give necessary feedback. The Specialist is a role model and serving leader within the group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Use of a computer for inventory and equipment management, email, and MS Office applications.
2. Monitor remote stock locations, warehouse inventory control points, and physical layout.
3. Maintain records and generate reports for inventory and equipment processes.
4. Monitor supply expiration dates and make inventory adjustments as needed.
5. Maintain staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage for departmental responsibilities.
6. Coordinate staff to complete work assignments.
7. Conduct on the job training, staff coaching, and department huddles.
8. Provide feedback and coaching for each employee regarding work performance and behavior.
9. Use critical thinking and analysis to proactively solve problems.
10. Assign tasks to, and seek assistance from, Inventory Control Associate as needed.
11. Provide excellent customer service.
12. Maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times.
13. Participate in mandatory in-service meetings (e.g. TB testing, safety, HIPAA).

QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Minimum of one (1) year of prior supply chain leadership experience.
3. Ability to receive, follow, and communicate both written and oral instructions.
4. Clearly and accurately assure job coverage and task completion.
5. Demonstrate patience, good judgment, and initiative in decision-making and setting priorities to accommodate change in presence and absence of management.
6. Possess outstanding customer service and public relations skills.
7. Ability to establish and evaluate processes, best practice, and record keeping.
8. Display strong verbal, mathematic, and problem solving skills.
9. Embody the Serving Leader approach to management.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, bend and walk for extended periods of time.
2. Storeroom Specialist generally stand/walks 5 hours per day and sits 3 hours per day.
3. Position requires bending, stooping, and reaching to restock supply carts.
4. Lifting is required with packages weighing as much as 50 lbs. or more.
