Summary

Essential Job Functions: Maintains inventory; posts additions, changes and deletion to inventory; checks accuracy of received inventory against purchase orders; picks up and delivers parts; responsible for the orderliness of storage areas; aids in determining inventory needs and specifications; purchases parts, inventory and tools for division as assigned; performs data entry for perpetual inventory control; aids in preparation of purchasing and receiving reports; picks up inventory; works shop parts counter; locates repair parts for mechanics and issues parts from inventory; cleans parts area. Performs inventory cycle counts and works biannual inventory. Responsible for all parts invoicing; submits City invoices through Faster System for processing.

Examples of duties

This position requires 100% onsite work. Works indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather; may be exposed to dust and fumes. Must be available for work Monday – Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m., overtime and weekends when necessary; schedule subject to change; may work rotating shift.

Qualifications

Knowledge: Must have knowledge of automotive, heavy truck or construction equipment parts; must have knowledge of inventory management and storeroom procedures; knowledge of street locations in the City is helpful.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to perform routine computations with speed and accuracy; must be detail oriented with the ability to consistently transfer data/information by hand or by automation accurately; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public. Must be able to operate a forklift.

Physical Requirements: Constantly hears and sees; frequently sorts, stands, walks, carries, drags, holds and lifts objects weighing up to 100 lbs., cleans, climbs, operates a PC, types, drives, files, pulls, pushes and drags objects weighing up to 50 lbs., stoops, enters data and writes by hand; infrequently calculates, crawls, kneels, sits, squats, and twists body.

Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; experience in inventory control or general storekeeping; recent auto, truck or equipment parts, and counter experience; and some computerized parts inventory experience and data entry experience required.

Supplemental information

This position requires 100% onsite work. Data entry skills test will be administered. Must possess a valid Class C Driver's License with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
