This Store Planning Specialist role will support project work streams for the Hard Discount major and minor capital planning.

The Role Includes (but is not limited to):

  • Support the Senior Manager in translating business strategies into executable store planning initiatives, capital projects, and retail rollout programs across the Hard Discount network.
  • Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and execution of major, minor, seasonal, and special project rollouts, ensuring alignment with merchandising, banner, and corporate strategies.
  • Coordinate store layout revisions, fixture plans, drawing requests, approvals, and documentation with Design Technologists and cross-functional partners to support project execution.
  • Collaborate with Real Estate, Construction, Store Planning, Merchandising, Operations, Procurement, Home Office Capital Planning, and external consultants to ensure effective planning, communication, and project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, trackers, reports, documentation, and standardized tools to monitor progress, communicate updates, and support timely execution.
  • Monitor project milestones, identify risks and issues, coordinate resolutions, and escalate concerns to the Senior Manager when appropriate.
  • Prepare project scope documentation, presentations, status updates, and post-project reviews, including lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of store planning and fixture standards that optimize operational efficiency, enhance the customer experience, and maximize capital investments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners while identifying opportunities to improve planning processes, project coordination, and rollout efficiency.
  • Provide general project coordination and administrative support to the Senior Manager as required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail/store operations, store planning, architecture/design, project coordination, project management, or a related field; experience working in or supporting a retail store environment is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education or training in Architecture, Design, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain trackers and documentation, and follow projects through to completion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, manage stakeholder expectations, and work effectively across multiple teams and levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate competing priorities and resolve issues or conflicts in a collaborative and solutions-oriented manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel; comfortable learning new systems, tools, and processes.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities and project requirements may change.
  • Curious and analytical mindset with a willingness to ask questions, understand the rationale behind decisions, and identify alternative approaches or opportunities for improvement.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with an interest in developing broader knowledge of store planning, retail operations, design, construction, and capital project delivery.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, using sound judgment to assess information, develop options, and escalate issues when appropriate.
