Job Description

The Store Planning role analyzes store productivity by identifying opportunities to improve sales & GMROI performance and providing data-driven recommendations that optimize store space utilization. This role is responsible for reporting, analytics, and performance measurements across the store fleet, helping business partners understand where stores are underperforming and developing recommendations to improve productivity. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, advanced Excel skills, enjoys working with data, and can translate insights into meaningful business recommendations. Experience with retail merchandising, store operations, space planning, or CAD tools is a plus.

What you will do

STORE PRODUCTIVITY ANALYSIS

  • Analyze store productivity metrics, including sales per square foot, merchandise performance, category productivity, and space utilization.
  • Identify underproductive stores, departments, and categories through data analysis and performance reporting.
  • Develop recommendations to improve sales productivity and optimize store space allocation.
  • Monitor performance trends and provide insights to support strategic business decisions.

REPORTING & ANALYTICS

  • Create and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, floor plans and scorecards that measure store and merchandising performance.
  • Compile, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources to support planning initiatives.
  • Develop ad hoc analyses and presentations for Store Planning, Merchandising, and Field Leadership teams.
  • Translate complex data into clear and actionable business insights.

PARTNERSHIP

  • Partner with Merchandising, Finance, and Field teams to understand performance opportunities and business needs.
  • Support merchandise planning discussions by providing data-backed recommendations.
  • Assist with store layout reviews and space productivity analyses.
  • Participate in special projects related to store growth, remodels/consolidations, store openings/closings, productivity improvement initiatives and other company priorities.

STORE PLANNING SUPPORT

  • Assist with measuring and maintaining store square footage and space allocation records.
  • Support store layout and floor plan updates as needed.
  • Help evaluate space productivity and recommend adjustments to improve overall store performance
  • Utilize CAD tools and store planning software when applicable.
  • Completes ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree business, finance, operations, or other related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years Retail analytics, store planning, merchandising, business analysis or related field Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other complex formulas
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with large data sets and identify meaningful business insights
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in retail, merchandising, store operations or space planning
  • Knowledge of CAD software for store measurements and floor plan analysis
  • Understanding of retail KPIs such as sales per square foot, inventory productivity, and category performance
  • Merchant or merchandising background
  • Requires designated hybrid in-office work schedule.
