About the Role

Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a reliable and motivated Store Person to support the day-to-day operations of the Council Store.

This is a casual position, with hours worked as required based on operational needs. In this hands-on role, you will assist with receiving and dispatching goods, maintaining inventory, and providing excellent customer service to internal stakeholders. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work and being part of a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and check incoming goods against orders
  • Operate forklift and other equipment (with safety checks)
  • Store and organise stock efficiently
  • Pick and dispatch orders to Council departments
  • Provide customer service at the store counter
  • Assist with fuel dispensing
  • Maintain inventory records and report low stock levels
  • Support stocktakes and maintain a clean, safe work environment

About You

You will be a team player who is reliable, practical, and safety-focused, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current C Class Driver Licence
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • A commitment to workplace safety and following procedures

Desirable:

  • Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in stores, warehousing, or inventory management
