Job Description
This full-time (37.5 hours per week) position reports to the Senior Director of Communications, in the Office of Marketing & Communications, and is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of the on-campus and online stores. Responsibilities include negotiating with vendors, purchasing, inventory control (including safekeeping and security of inventory), sales, returns, fulfillment, processing, shipping, and overall customer service. Hours may be increased occasionally on an as needed basis for special events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Order, price, stock and maintain proper levels of merchandise for both the campus and online stores
- Cover store during hours of operation including, customer service, cashiering, processing, fulfillment and shipping of products
- Coordinate with the six schools for ordering art supplies
- Periodically provide merchandise for and work events on campus
- General office work including reviewing and submitting invoices for payment
- Organize and perform annual physical inventory count for both the campus and online store merchandise
- Works closely with the Marketing & Communications design staff to design new products that promote CalArts and its brand
- Works closely with the Marketing & Communications team to design, execute and analyze store promotions to make recommendations and adjust merchandise Implement and maintain policies and procedures for store operations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Supervise a student worker 10 hours per week

- Ability to establish reasonable merchandise pricing through effective negotiations with vendors

- Ability to lift and move items up to 40 pounds
- Excitement and enthusiasm for CalArts
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Two to three years’ experience in retail operations
- Bookkeeping experience
