The Store Director is responsible for overseeing the store's overall operations and management. Their responsibilities revolve around setting goals and objectives, devising strategies to increase sales and brand awareness, managing the employees and all hiring processes, and managing inventory controls. They are responsible for achieving the store's budget, ensuring operational efficiency, managing the store team, and upholding its reputation within the community. This position requires a dynamic and experienced leader with a strong background in retail management, exceptional organizational and communication skills with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
Compliance/Safety
- Ensure staff complies with company policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure staff complies with OSHA, and Health Department standards, including proper food handling procedures and HACCP program maintenance.
- Ensure all necessary job and safety training is completed.
- Comply with Weights and Measures rules and regulations and report pricing problems or discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
- Partner with Department heads and conduct regularly scheduled inspections of all departments and equipment to ensure they are safe and in working order.
- Regularly inspect freezers, refrigerated cases, and other applicable displays to ensure they operate efficiently.
- Operate and comply with labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Store Operations Management
- Oversee the business's day-to-day operations ensuring smooth functioning adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels, optimize stock replenishment, and minimize shrink.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues while being creative and resourceful.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a retail environment.
Sales and Financial Performance
- Develop, collaborate, and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Review sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and implement appropriate measures.
- Use financial statements to monitor, control, and reduce expenses, including labor costs, to ensure maximized profitability results.
Customer Service
- Foster a customer-centric culture by providing exceptional service, maintaining a clean, inviting store, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and effectively.
- Knowledge of company promotions and specials, including customer loyalty programs and initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
Staff Management and Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop a competent and motivated store team.
- Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and apply progressive disciplinary actions as needed.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
Merchandising and Inventory Management
- Plan and execute effective merchandising strategies to optimize product placement, displays, and promotions.
- Monitor product availability, proper rotation of products, freshness, and quality to ensure a well-stocked and attractive store.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, manage shrink, and implement loss prevention measures.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and implement necessary changes.
Community Engagement and Brand Representation
- Act as the face of the store within the local community, building and maintaining relationships with customers and community organizations.
- Represent the store at community events, sponsorships, and promotional activities.
- Uphold the store's reputation for quality, value, and community engagement.
- Act as a brand ambassador and strive to achieve the brand ideals and mission.
Qualifications and Skills
Must be 18 years old or older.
Education - Some college; bachelor’s degree is a plus, Retail Management Certificate or a related field (preferred). Proven experience in grocery store management or a similar retail leadership role.
Experience
- Strong business acumen and a track record of achieving sales targets and financial goals.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, and merchandising principles.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in using computerized point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software.
- Ability to analyze data, make data-driven decisions, and implement effective strategies.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
