This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Storage Engineer based in India.
This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on supporting, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale storage environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. You will provide advanced technical support for block, file, and object storage while helping ensure reliability, security, performance, and availability. The role combines day-to-day operations with project delivery, automation, troubleshooting, and continuous service improvement. You’ll work closely with Systems, Network, and Application Engineering teams across multiple geographies and time zones. The position offers the opportunity to work with technologies including HPE storage platforms and AWS storage services. You’ll also contribute through scripting, documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring. This is an environment suited to an adaptable engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and learning new technologies.
Accountabilities:
- Provide advanced and escalated support for on-premises and cloud-based storage infrastructure, collaborating with Systems, Network, and Application Engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
- Provision and manage block, file, and object storage across on-premises environments and public cloud platforms, including configuration of deployed storage hardware.
- Maintain and optimize storage infrastructure to improve security, reliability, performance, and availability through upgrades, patching, vulnerability remediation, and scheduled maintenance.
- Manage dedicated iSCSI storage networks, including compatibility analysis and configuration activities associated with planned infrastructure upgrades.
- Monitor and administer storage platforms such as HPE Qumulo with InfoSight, HPE Alletra, AWS storage services, and related technologies.
- Participate in infrastructure improvement initiatives, storage technology implementations, migrations, and other technical projects.
- Manage escalated service tickets through resolution, maintaining accurate status updates, following hand-off procedures, and engaging senior resources when necessary.
- Develop and execute PowerShell and/or Bash scripts to automate storage administration, reporting, monitoring, and operational tasks.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical training to strengthen operational capabilities and troubleshooting skills.
- Respond to critical infrastructure alerts during business hours and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation when required.
- Adapt to evolving technologies and operational priorities while following established change management, security, ITIL, and infrastructure best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, infrastructure operations, storage engineering, or a related technical environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of on-premises storage arrays and block, file, and object storage technologies, particularly HPE storage solutions and AWS storage services.
- Strong understanding of storage networking protocols, including iSCSI with Jumbo Frames, SMB/NFS, and S3.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Strong PowerShell and/or Bash scripting capabilities; experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation and DevOps tools is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Understanding of networking configurations, firewall policies, routing, and infrastructure connectivity.
- Practical knowledge of IT concepts, infrastructure protocols, industry best practices, change management, and ITIL processes.
- HPE storage and/or AWS certifications are desirable; ITIL v3/v4 Foundation or AWS Associate certification is an additional advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a structured approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take ownership of technical issues, and make sound operational decisions.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, time zones, and geographies.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for scheduled maintenance, emergency interventions, and on-call responsibilities.
- Comfortable working for extended periods at a desk and using computer-based infrastructure management tools.
