A public sector client of ours is seeking a Stonesman to join their team across projects in Limerick and Clare

This is an agency contract role, with up to 24 months work.

This role offers an hourly rate of €23.00 per hour.

Tradesman to perform skilled stonemasonry and plastering works on projects, including maintenance, restoration, and new construction, ensuring high-quality finishes, structural integrity, and compliance with safety and workmanship standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. General Duties

• Carry out stonemasonry and plastering in line with drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions.
• Undertake repairs, restorations, and new works on modern and historic structures.
• Mix, apply, and finish plaster, lime mortar, or coatings; cut, shape, and set stone; install or replace decorative features.
• Prepare work areas, set up scaffolding, protect finishes, and maintain site housekeeping.
• Complete works to high standards, on time and within budget, following Health & Safety requirements.

2. Technical & Quality

• Interpret technical drawings and select suitable materials and tools.
• Undertake precise finishing works and identify structural or material defects.
• Follow quality assurance procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Apply correct methods for conservation of historic materials where required.

3. Health & Safety

• Work according to site Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, and Safety Statement.
• Use PPE and follow statutory safety procedures, participate in toolbox talks, and report hazards.
• Protect the environment and existing features during works.

4. Equipment & Materials

• Operate small plant and access equipment as trained.
• Maintain tools and request materials in line with project requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with site teams.

5. Collaboration & Teamwork

• Follow site drawings and instructions to ensure accurate, efficient work.
• Communicate progress, issues, and improvements to the site team.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience of stonemasonry works and/or plastering including
• experience in both modern and heritage structures.
• Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
• Proven experience in both repair and new-build environments.
• Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of traditional materials (lime mortars, natural stone) and modern
• equivalents.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes.
