KNOW THE ROLE

The Stock Controller plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of inventory management within the Distribution Centre. This role supports operational excellence by maintaining precise stock records, monitoring stock movement, resolving discrepancies, and contributing to a safe, organised, and customer-focused environment. The Stock Controller demonstrates strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a data-driven approach, ensuring stock accuracy supports the delivery of an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the Distribution Centre, ensuring system stock matches physical stock at all times

  • Conduct regular cycle counts and stock takes, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly

  • Monitor all stock movements, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, transfers, and returns

  • Identify, investigate, and escalate stock issues such as shortages, damages, and miss-picks, supporting root cause analysis

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of stock control procedures to minimise shrinkage and operational errors

  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, operational, and audit requirements within the warehouse environment

  • Work collaboratively with warehouse and operational teams to ensure efficient and accurate stock flow

  • Maintain strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation across daily stock control activities

  • Use warehouse systems and digital tools effectively to support data-driven decision-making and reporting

  • Contribute to operational targets by supporting productivity, accuracy, and customer service standards

  • Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and operational efficiency

  • Support peak trading periods through flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work varied shifts or overtime where required

  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to operational excellence in all daily activities

  • Previous stock control or inventory management experience essential

  • Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Excellent organisation, multitasking, and prioritisation skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset

  • Comfortable using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office tools

  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to team objectives

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and resilient in a changing environment

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
