Job Description

Some careers are built behind desks. Livestock agency isn’t one of them.

It’s built in saleyards often before daylight. Around kitchen tables. Through trust, relationship and the reputation you build over time.

Elders is seeking Expressions of Interest from people interested in joining our livestock teams on a full-time basis across Adelong, Tumut, Gundagai and the wider Eastern Riverina and Upper Murray region.

Whether you’re already established in the industry, looking for a stronger platform to grow from, or starting your career in livestock, this is an opportunity to be part of a business that continues to invest heavily in regional agriculture and livestock agency services.

Livestock remains at the heart of many regional communities and a key part of the future of Elders. We’re looking for good people who understand the value of relationships, hard work, local reputation and genuine customer service.

Why this region?

The Adelong, Tumut and Gundagai region offers some of the best of regional Australia.

Strong livestock and mixed farming country. Tight-knit communities. Great local sporting culture. Affordable living. Good schools and space to build a career and raise a family.

You’re within reach of Wagga Wagga, Canberra, the Snowy Mountains and the South Coast, while still living and working in communities where agriculture genuinely matters.

This is a region where relationships still count and people back those who show up consistently and do the right thing.

The opportunity

As part of the Elders livestock team, no two days are the same.

You might start the morning in the yards, spend the afternoon on-farm with clients discussing marketing options, and finish the day building relationships with buyers, processors or new clients across the district.

You’ll be backed by one of Australia’s most recognised agribusiness brands, while still having the autonomy and local support to build genuine long-term relationships in your community.

We are continuing to grow and strengthen our livestock capability across the region and are looking for people who want to help shape the next chapter.

What the role involves

  • Building strong relationships with existing and new livestock clients
  • Identifying livestock marketing opportunities across the region
  • Providing practical, trusted advice to producers
  • Working closely with buyers, processors and industry stakeholders
  • Supporting livestock sales, auctions and on-property transactions
  • Contributing to local industry and community events
  • Growing your own profile, network and reputation within the region

What we’re looking for

You may already be an experienced livestock agent, or someone looking to build a long-term future in the industry.

Most importantly, you’ll:

  • Back yourself to build relationships and win trust
  • Enjoy working with producers and rural communities
  • Have a strong work ethic and commercial mindset
  • Be motivated to grow personally and professionally
  • Be willing to get involved and contribute to the broader branch team across Elders’ portfolio of services
  • Employ or develop strong negotiating skills to bring buyers and sellers together
  • Have an interest in livestock and agriculture
  • Hold a Livestock Auctioneer Licence and Assessor Accreditation, or be willing to complete free training through Elders

What Elders offers

For the right people, we offer:

  • Competitive remuneration packages
  • Sign-on support for the right candidate
  • Relocation and housing assistance where required
  • Ongoing mentoring and professional development
  • Access to a strong branch and regional support network
  • Career pathways across one of Australia’s largest agribusiness networks
  • The opportunity to build a genuine long-term career in regional Australia

At Elders, the “pink shirt” still means something. It represents people who know agriculture, back their clients and are prepared to put in the work when it matters most.
