Responsible for the complete reprocessing of endo scopes and other devices, accurate documentation, record keeping, and keeping the work flow and area in accordance with reprocessing standards in the Urology Clinic.
Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree
Required: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within one (1) year, Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) Certification with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association within one (1) year; American Heart Association BLS
Required: Three (3) years of sterile processing technician experience
Preferred: Urology experience
Reports To: RN Practice Manager or Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

1.Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2.Coordinates instrument turn around activities in collaboration with Urology providers and nursing staff.
3.Oversees daily BIO testing ensuring uncompromised sterility of all procedure trays, scopes and instruments.
4.Properly disassembles and assembles instrumentation.
5.Maintains temperature, maintenance logs and quality checks.
6.Works with Infection Prevention and Risk Management when temp/humidity not in range.
7.Maintains proper sterile storage of supplies and instrumentation.
8.Assembles surgical and specialty carts according to the transportation slips or inventory check lists.
9.Maintains the proper par levels of supplies. Orders supplies for S.P. and PPE for both clinics.
10.Properly operates and maintains decontamination equipment.
11.Inspects instrumentation for contamination and ensures instruments and equipment are in good working order prior to assembly.
12.Properly receives, sorts, and inspects instrumentation in the decontamination work area following standard precautions.
13.Follows manufacturer’s recommendations on dilution of all chemicals used throughout the department.
14.Follows instrument tray inventory control sheets when assembling tray sets.
15.Identifies, selects, and demonstrates proper usage of sterilization packaging and quality control indicators for each.
16.Selects, performs, interprets and documents diagnostic and biological tests on all types of sterilization equipment.
17.Provides training orientation, signing off NetLearning topics: First Step, Scope Handling, Instrument Tracking, and Pre-Klenz.
18.Works with clinic staff and leadership on issues pertaining to sterile processing and maintenance of equipment and instruments based on manufacturer recommended care instructions.
19.Trains staff on processing, sterilization of equipment, daily quality checks, care of equipment and ongoing (in-service) training prior to sterile processing.
20.Maintains manufacturers recommended maintenance and parameters of Sterrad sterilizer.
21.Maintains and submits up to date Instructions for Use (IFU) into the organizational “One Source” tracking system for all materials/products used in Urology clinic.
22.Monitors, maintains and implements up to date standards imposed by regulatory agencies such as CDPH and JC, and represents the clinic/department for State surveys.
23.Attends department and organizational meetings as the department representative related to Sterile processing.
24.Works with vendors on obtaining capital and non-capital purchase quotes, return merchandise authorization and packaging and shipping of equipment.
25.Troubleshoots equipment, as needed.
26.Performs other duties as assigned.
