Job Description
Under general supervision, responsible for sterilizing and decontaminating surgical instruments and equipment for use in the procedure rooms and throughout the clinics.
- Sterilizes and gives routine care to clinical instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Sets up instrument trays for treatments and ensures standard trays are ready for use.
- Assembles surgical carts; tracks and maintains the total inventory of instruments, disposables, and implants.
- Performs preventive maintenance on clinic handpieces and other clinic equipment.
- Ensures proper utilization and compliance with clinic, equipment loan policies; follows up on loaned equipment.
- Assists with developing and implementing procedures and policies related to sterile processing.
- Makes recommendations to manager regarding tray setups, handpieces and equipment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Possesses basic computer knowledge and skills (Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
- Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multi task without losing efficiency and quality of work.
- Ability to think critically in situations where speed and sustained attention are important.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinic with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to work with a variety of patients including physically and medically compromised patients.
