
HOURLY RANGE: $21.20 - $28.76
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves performing functions related to infection control such as cleaning, assembling, inspecting and sterilizing instruments and medical equipment for the Operating Room (“OR”) at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. In addition to providing sterile products, the incumbent also delivers specimens to pathology and the blood bank, transports patients and prepares the OR for receiving the patient which includes setting up case carts for daily OR schedules. Work is performed under the direct supervision of higher-level personnel. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of various decontamination and sterilization techniques; good knowledge of hospital supplies used for patient care; working knowledge of common terminology used to describe hospital supplies; working knowledge of inventory control; ability to operate various sterilization and decontamination equipment; ability to read and understand written material; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, ability to use a computer; initiative; good judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
