Sterile Processing Technician
Sterile Processing Technicians decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute instruments, equipment and supplies. Maintains education in Sterile Processing and related aspects of patient care.

Responsibilities
Applies principles of disinfection and sterilization., Decontaminates and refill crash carts, urological cart and latex free box, Trach Box, Chest tube Box, Central Line and Debridement box, following established health center procedures., Decontaminates instruments and equipment following established health center procedures per manufacturer instruction., Demonstrates knowledge of basic aseptic techniques., Inspects instruments for functionality and prepares them for sterilization., Maintains and secures stocked crash carts and replenishes used crash carts. Delivers used medication boxes securely to pharmacy for refill. Handles and maintains security of sealed drug boxes for crash carts., Maintains sterilization records for Sterile Processing, Operating Room and HMS., Operates all sterilizer cycles in department – vacuum, gravity, Sterrad 100S, Sterrad NS, Starrad NX., Operates and maintains equipment according to recommended manufactures instructions and health center policies and procedures., Participates in the evaluation of the patient care delivery system., Places work order requests (i.e. maintenance, housekeeping, etc.), Retrieves preference sheets from surgical services computer system per specifics. (i.e. patient specific, physician specific, etc.)., Takes call as scheduled., Utilizes surgeon preference card and case cart pick list to competently prepare for operative procedures, when pulling inventory to build case carts.
