Job Description


The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient surgical care in a high-volume ambulatory surgery center. This position requires strong attention to detail, a team-first mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and trays according to AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, and facility policies

  • Accurately assemble case carts and instrument sets to support on-time starts and efficient room turnover

  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (steam, low-temperature, etc.), ensuring proper documentation and quality assurance

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate instrument issues, missing items, or repairs proactively

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile processing environment

  • Collaborate closely with OR staff, leadership, and fellow technicians to meet daily case volume demands

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, safety, and team performance

  • Adhere to all infection prevention, safety, and regulatory requirements

  • Works as part of a supportive, highly collaborative SPD and surgical services team

  • Willingness to assist teammates during peak volumes and adapt to changing priorities

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

  • No weekends or holidays

  • Q4 may require overtime due to increased surgical volume

  • Fast-paced, high-volume ambulatory surgery center setting
