Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a working technician, performing all of the direct functions of a Sterile Processing Technician, with the additional duties required as Lead. Coordinates and monitors assigned activities within the Sterile Processing Department to ensure efficient operations. Troubleshoots any daily operational issues impeding workflow. Works collaboratively with vendors, surgical and clinical staff to ensure that surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies are prepared and present in accordance with the instrument and equipment manufacturer instructions, so that surgical cases can operate efficiently and on-time. Acts as a liaison and between Sterile Processing other departments, serving as the departmental resource. Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with Sterile Processing management, vendors, physicians, nurses and other clinical staff. Serves as preceptor and mentor for Sterile Processing staff. Models excellence in customer service.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED is required. Minimum one year experience as an operating room sterile processing technician is required. Certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) is required upon employment and is to be maintained throughout tenure. Previous team lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
