Responsible for maintaining standards related to the decontamination and reprocessing of equipment and instrumentation used in patient care throughout the organization. Ensures that all surgical instruments and hospital equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, and distributed promptly throughout the hospital. May have access to areas where medications are stored and/or prepared for purposes of fulfilling job duties. Serves as a resource educator & role model for the staff. Will be primarily working daylight with varying hours to accommodate in-servicing and competency verification on all shifts. Will aid with education to Augusta Health and Outpatient Pavilion central sterile departments, clinical office practices performing sterilization, and other departments as needed.
