The Sterile Processing Assistant is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, preparing, and distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment while following strict infection control and safety standards to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean, disinfect, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain proper sterile technique and infection control practices.
  • Prepare and distribute sterile instruments and supplies for surgeries and procedures.
  • Collect and decontaminate used instruments and equipment.
  • Identify damaged instruments and report items requiring repair or replacement.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sterilization equipment.
  • Clean, disinfect, and prepare surgical and procedure rooms before and after use.

Qualifications

  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician License preferred.
  • At least 1 year of sterile processing or surgical technician experience required; 2+ years of veterinary experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately clean, inspect, assemble, and prepare surgical instruments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, think critically, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a veterinary healthcare team.

Additional Information

We offer our staff:

Compensation: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience.

Shift Differential: Additional shift differential pay is offered for hours worked between 6:00 PM–12:00 AM and 12:00 AM–6:00 AM

Pre-Employment Requirements: As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and urine toxicology screening through HealthWorks before becoming eligible for hire.
