Job Description

Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Assistant Director, the Sterile Processing Aide supports the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) by performing non-technical, supportive functions that contribute to safe, efficient indirect patient care.

This role is designed for individuals who demonstrate an interest in Sterile processing and Surgical services and are seeking an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop within the field, while supporting Sterile Processing Technicians and departmental operations in accordance with Tamarack Health policies, infection prevention practices, and regulatory standards.

Job Duties:

• Transport, deliver, and retrieve case carts, instruments, and supplies between Sterile Processing, ORs, clinics, and designated hospital areas.
• Load/unload washers and cart washers; assist with drying, staging, and organizing instruments and containers to support efficient assembly.
• Maintain organization and workflow continuity within the Sterile Processing Department.
• Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and staging supplies and vendor items (non‑ordering role)
• Monitor inventory and report low stock, damaged items, or concerns to SPD leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow PPE, infection prevention, and safety standards.
• Communicate professionally with SPD, perioperative staff, and other departments.
• Work effectively in a fast‑paced environment; prioritize tasks and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous hospital or healthcare experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support Certification provided by the American Heart Association required.
• Demonstrated interest in sterile processing and/or surgical services, with a desire to continue learning and developing within the field
• Seeks an opportunity to gain foundational knowledge under the direction of Sterile Processing leadership while supporting technicians
• Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, or holidays as required by department operations
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow written and verbal instructions
