Key Responsibilities for a Stepdown RN

• Monitor and provide care for patients transitioning from intensive care to the general medical-surgical floors.
• Evaluate patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop effective care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policies.
• Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed records.
• Educate patients and their families about ongoing care and discharge plans.

Qualifications for Aspiring Stepdown RNs

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Oklahoma or NLC.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a critical care or stepdown unit preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Dedication to providing compassionate and patient-focused care.
