Job Description

Compensation Type: Salaried

Compensation: $54,772.20

The STEM Coordinator in Biological and Physical Sciences (BPS) coordinates the implementation and execution of STEM related programs, including grant-funded projects. The Coordinator collaborates with project teams comprised of internal and/or external partners to ensure that all project requirements, timelines and deliverables are met, including outcome, documentation and reporting components. This position serves as liaison to K-12 partners, grant partners, faculty, advisors and students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


STEM Coordination

  • Formulates, interprets, and/or implements management policies or operating practices and carries out major assignments that affect STEM operations.
  • As directed by leadership, commits the College in matters that have significant impact.
  • Works with College leadership in planning long or short-term program objectives. Investigates and resolves matters of significance.
  • Monitors work performed by others, provides guidance regarding work methods and standards, and provides direction to help ensure that work is completed timely and in accordance with College and program standards.
  • Serves as the BPS department liaison with all advising units at the college to coordinate science course substitution and degree petitions; communicates with students, faculty leads and advisors; facilitates science course training for new academic advisors.
  • Serves as the primary academic advisor for STEM students.
  • Provides comprehensive support for community partners, students, administrators, faculty, and staff.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Collaborates with other departments and external partners as needed to ensure quality work delivery, including collaboration across departments and divisions within the college for the organization and implementation of STEM programs serving the community and students, including but not limited to: We Are STEM, Future Scientists of Ohio, STEM Summer Bridge, STEAMM Rising, and STEM club.
  • Serves as a liaison with K-12 and industry partners to promote STEM programs such as ABE, AS degree programs, Biotechnology certificate and degree programs.
  • Represents the college on the STEM Industry Counsel Committee (SINC) and planning committee for SINC Career Readiness Program.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to promote science related programs.
  • Collaborates with ODHE and OSU in implementation of Choose Ohio First program at CSCC.
  • Works with the business office, grants accounting, and financial aid office to facilitate scholarship award process for STEM students.

Administrative

  • Completes all paperwork in a timely manner. Creates spreadsheets, performs data entry, and presents information, as directed.
  • Maintains confidentiality and appropriate records.
  • Coordinates with faculty in the scheduling of cohort classes for STEM scholars; assist students with transfer process and internship opportunities. Tracks cost sharing and develops and maintains cost share databases for STEM grant projects.
  • Works closely with PIs on preparation of grant annual reports; prepare presentations and materials for ODHE audits and site visits.
  • Maintains and updates Future Scientists of Ohio scholarship recruiting materials, scholarship application, and website.
  • Maintains and updates spreadsheets of Central Ohio High School science and math teachers and guidance counselors for outreach purposes.
  • Manages social media accounts to promote STEM events and opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience including but not limited to student support and/or academic advising.

Additional Information

  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
