As an established leader in the industry, we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Steel Fabricator / Welder to join our thriving Steels Department at our Colney Heath branch. Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions for accurate steel fabrication and welding.
Fabricate, assemble, and weld steel components for construction and installation projects, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
Use fabrication tools and welding equipment safely and effectively, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding processes.
Carry out quality inspections on finished products, ensuring dimensional and structural accuracy before delivery.
Assist with loading, unloading, and handling of steel products in the workshop and yard.
Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Report any machinery defects, safety issues, or production concerns promptly to your Line Manager.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Steels Department and wider branch network to meet production targets and customer requirements.
Previous experience in steel fabrication and welding is essential.
Proficient in MIG, TIG, and arc welding, cutting and shaping steel to precise measurements.
Able to read and work accurately from technical drawings and schematics.
Comfortable with heavy manual handling and working in a busy workshop environment.
Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality control.
Team player, adaptable to changing workloads and able to communicate effectively with colleagues.
Self-motivated with a positive approach to safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Relevant welding and fabrication qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with significant experience.
Full-time position, 44.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday 07:30–17:00, alternate Saturdays 08:00–12:00).
Salary = £40,000+ (dependent on experience and qualifications)
