Job Description

Become a pivotal leader in the Steam Turbine (ST) Structures Product Definition Engineering (PDE) team, where you'll lead the Steam Turbine and Generator (STaGE) component design team to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of Steam Turbine shells, hoods, valves, and related components. This role involves optimizing PDE schedules, streamlining workflow processes, and enforcing CAD modeling standards while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and global supply chain stakeholders to drive innovative product designs and enhance project execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead daily management for the STaGE component designer team, overseeing daily tasks and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of Steam Turbine Stationary Structures drawings/models.
  • Maintain day-to-day ownership of PDE schedules and task assignment, and work direction
  • Optimize workflow processes for efficient task completion and resource utilization.
  • Clarify PDE handoffs and interfaces with engineering and global supply chain, ensuring seamless integration and communication across teams.
  • Drive improvements in master schedules and fulfillment processes, optimizing schedule models for clear ownership and effective project execution.
  • Collaborate with the PDE Process Improvement team to enhance CAD modeling practices and ensure compliance with Model Based Enterprise and GD&T standards.
  • Foster collaboration with manufacturing, design engineering, sourcing, and quality leaders to meet commitments and maintain a high say-do ratio.
  • Support requisition process upgrades and standardization efforts, reducing cycle times for new units and upgrades.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO procedures, maintaining the quality of PDE deliverables, and conforming to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Lead problem solving/root cause analysis for internal and external quality issues.
  • Ensure standard work is published, current and followed by the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent STEM field. Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
  • This role requires a hybrid work schedule with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday required in-office days in Schenectady, NY.

  • In-depth knowledge of Power Generation Steam Turbine equipment and components, with experience in mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
  • Prior experience in project management, leadership, and communication, with the ability to present effectively and influence in a matrix environment.
  • Highly motivated and self-starting, capable of handling a diverse and challenging workload with flexibility.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Enovia PLM, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Primavera P6.
  • Experience with scheduling and managing a Union workforce,
  • Knowledge of Lean skills and tools such as Standard Work, Daily Management, and Problem Solving.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
