Job Description

Our award-winning client is seeking a Statutory Senior Accountant to join their team.The Statutory Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of statutory financial information. This position will require a deep understanding of statutory accounting principles and practices, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in statutory accounting, a solid grasp of Excel, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze accounts, journal entries, and reconciliations for various statutory purposes, including FIT, Premium Taxes, and investments.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly statutory financial reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Support the organization in meeting regulatory filing requirements, including RBC projections and other statutory filings.
• Help design and implement accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on automation and improved internal controls.
• Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances, analyze accounts, and prepare management reports.
• Provide support to auditors as needed, ensuring accurate and transparent financial information.
• Assist with various ad-hoc accounting and financial projects as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university or college.
• Proven experience in statutory accounting, preferably in the insurance industry.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software (NetSuite General Ledger is a plus).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
