Duties/Responsibilities

  • Competently operates all Central Utility Plant systems, and building utilities infrastructure, in both normal and emergency situations, often in the absence of direct guidance.
  • Performs troubleshooting, testing, maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision to:
    • HVAC systems
    • Chillers
    • Pneumatic and electric controls
    • Building automation systems
    • Air compressors, vacuum pumps, water pumps
    • Package Units
    • Boilers
    • Water treatment systems and equipment
  • Performs maintenance and repairs to building structural systems when required
  • Responsible for the accuracy, clarity and compliance of all associated documentation such as:
    • TJC & other AHJ maintenance compliance records
    • Daily operating logs
    • Water chemistry analysis & results
    • Maintenance records
    • Requisitions & Invoicing
  • Has the ability to assume the duties of the Central Utility Plant Supervisor when needed for short periods
  • Manages vendors on site performing services in relation to assigned duties
  • Performs assigned duties in accordance with current departmental policies, procedures and sound generally accepted engineering practices

Required Skills/Abilities

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of experience in Utility Plant, Power Plant, or Propulsion Plant operations and maintenance required
  • One or more of the following is required:
    • Trade or Tech school diploma or certification in Industrial Maintenance or related field.
    • Stationary Engineer certification
    • Military equivalent training and experience
    • Secondary education in Industrial maintenance and operations (AAP, Industrial Maintenance Certificate, or related)
  • Experience with Trane Trace, SIEMANS, or Honeywell EBI preferred
  • Emergency Generator operation experience preferred
  • Boiler plant operation experience preferred
