Hours per fortnight
84 Hours of work per fortnight in accordance with rostered shift work as described in Tasmanian Fire Fighting Industry Employees Award 2022.
It should be noted that promotion to the rank of Station Officer may require the completion of future periods of Non-Rostered Shift Work in line with the Tasmanian Firefighting Industry Employees’ Award.
Probation
Your permanent promotion to the rank of Station Officer will be subject to you successfully completing a six (6) month trial period in accordance with clause 3.2.6 of the Firefighting Industrial Agreement 2025

Duties
Manage assigned personnel and physical resources in line with organisational policy and strategy to ensure effective emergency response and community preparedness, including: the supervision of operations at emergency incidents, delivery of operational and fire safety related training, and implementation of community fire safety and education programs.

Subsequent Selection
Applicants should note that for a period of up to twelve months from the date of publication, this process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies.
Lateral Entry:
Interstate applications are encouraged and candidates will be required to provide evidence of holding equivalent industry qualifications for the rank of Station Officer within the Tasmania Fire Service (PUA40319 Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) or equivalent).
Please provide all qualifications up to, and including, the Certificate IV. During the recruitment process, your qualifications will be verified with the issuing registered training organisation, and competencies will be reviewed against the current TFS Career Development Pathway.
Current TFS candidates will be required to provide evidence of the necessary competency and qualifications for Station Officer promotion. Please contact Training Services on tfes.training@dpfem.tas.gov.au for a record of your qualifications.
